Ram 1500 Maintenance Schedule
Just take home a new Ram 1500? Well, as you drive it around Marietta, Canton, and Kennesaw, GA, you will want to make sure you maintain it. The easiest way to do so is following along with the truck’s maintenance schedule, found within your owner’s manual.
Below, our team here at Woodstock Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM has pulled out some of the important information from the RAM 1500 maintenance schedule. Check it out to see when you may need to seek out service!
Every 20,000 Miles or 2 Years
The first major service interval that you will encounter comes at the 20,000-mile/2-year mark. At this point in time, you will want to provide your truck with an inspection of the CV/Universal joints, front suspension, tie rod ends, brake linings, and the fresh air system.
If any of these components are not working as properly intended, they will also need to be replaced/repaired.
30,000 Miles or 3 years
At the 30,000-mile mark, you’ll need to do some new inspections. First, you’ll need to take a look at the front and rear axle surfaces, making sure there is no gear oil leakage. Similarly, you’ll need to inspect the transfer case fluid and then also replace the engine air filter.
Some of these services will repeat for every 30,000 miles you drive. Others, like the transfer case inspection, will be able to go a bit longer.
100,000 Miles or 10 Years
Once you reach the 100,000-mile mark, or have been driving your truck for 10 years, you will have two key maintenance needs pop up. First, the spark plugs will need to be replaced. This will ensure that your truck will be able to start as you turn the key in the ignition.
At the 10-year mark, you will also want to flush and replace the engine coolant, which is responsible for regulating engine temperature.
A Note About Oil Changes and Tire Rotations
Not expressly mentioned in this maintenance schedule, is the need for oil changes and tire rotations. Typically, you will need to perform these services at least once, and sometimes twice a year. When you do perform these services, you will also want to…
- Inspect the battery and replace if necessary
- Inspect transmission fluid
- Inspect brake pads, rotors, and other components
- Inspect exhaust system
Additionally, for every 12,000 miles that you drive your RAM 1500, you will need to replace the cabin air filter.
